Questions? We have answers!
Both!
You can choose to have a lesson on your phone, tablet, laptop or computer.
Taster lessons are free lessons where your chosen teacher checks your current English level and explains the structure of the TEA lessons. The teacher will also answer all of your questions.
Taster lessons are completely free and typically last from 15 to 30 minutes. You don’t need to prepare in any way. Just meet your teacher on your chosen platform at the correct date and time.
If you want to book a free taster lesson you have to:
- Go to ‘Find a Teacher’, choose the perfect teacher for you and click on their profile
- Click ‘Book Free Taster Lesson’ and fill out the form with your details
- After filling out the form, click ‘Send’ and wait for an email from admin@thatenglishacent.com about choosing the perfect date and time for your lesson. Don’t forget to check your Spam folder!
Our lessons are based around the Pomodoro technique. Experience has shown that keeping lessons to just 30 minutes ensures that you can stay focused throughout the session and gain maximum progress for the best price.
It’s far more effective to have two 30-minute lessons in a week rather than one 60 minute lesson. Trust us 🙂
Each teacher has a list of chosen platforms like Zoom, Google Meet, Skype, Whatsapp or Messenger.
You can choose a platform that suits you the most.
To check what platforms are available for each teacher, click on their profiles in ‘Find a Teacher’.
If you are a student:
Yes!
Your teacher will message you before your taster session to ask if you’d prefer to have the lesson on or off camera. You do not need to have your camera on during our lessons but, if it’s possible, we recommend having it on – it helps improve focus.
If you are a teacher:
You must be able to have a camera for some of your lessons. If you do not have this option, we will arrange a camera for you.
If you are having internet problems and can’t connect then please text us at +44 7538 795383
Please give your name, surname and the name of your teacher.
We will let them know that you will not be able to make it.
We will be able to reschedule your lesson for you once you reconnect.
If the connection breaks down during a lesson that is more than 80% complete, then we’ll treat it as finished. If the connection breaks down during a lesson that is less than 80% complete then you will be able to reschedule your lesson.

Once you become a TEA teacher you will choose how much your lessons will cost, (teachers usually charge an average of 12 EUR for a 30-minute lesson). We take a small fee from each lesson and pay you on a monthly basis. Our fees vary depending on your previous experience and availability. Usually we will charge anything between 20% and 40% per lesson.
The premise is simple, the more lessons you have, the smaller our percentage gets!

At That English Accent we hire the person, not the CV! No matter if you have had teaching experience or not, providing you have the right mindset and skills, we will show you how to teach effectively with our TEA method.
One-to-one Lessons:
If your student has not cancelled/rescheduled, and has not shown up, the lesson will be classified as complete and you will therefore be paid as usual.
You must wait a minimum of 7 minutes from the designated start time for the late student to join the lesson, after which you may leave the classroom.
Group Lessons:
We will always be paid for the amount of booked seats regardless if the students show up or not.
If no one shows up, you must wait a minimum of 7 minutes from the designated start time for the students to join the lesson, after which you may leave the classroom.
Some of our teachers teach in the evenings in addition to their regular job and some are self-employed. We can provide informal advice on what’s best for you.
One of the many benefits of being a TEA teacher is that you are in complete control of your schedule. You can choose to work every day or just one day a week. You can choose to work in the mornings, in the evenings or throughout the whole day. It is entirely up to you. To provide an example, Kasia (the founder of That English Accent) currently has around 40 lessons per week and is available to teach all day from Monday to Friday. Bear in mind that most students want to have lessons in the afternoons/evenings after returning from school or work.
If you choose to teach with That English Accent’s method you will be provided with a set of easy-to-follow lesson plans as well as articles that you will send out to students before each lesson. Each teacher will be given appropriate training on how to teach with the TEA method.
Here is some basic information about the TEA lesson method:
- 30-minute one-to-one lessons online.
- Ideally you will teach adults and teenagers (usually 15+).
- Conversational lessons with a high emphasis on speaking and reading in a relaxed, stress-free environment. Lessons are intended to be friendly chat sessions.
You will choose what platforms to teach on. We can give you a run-down on the most popular platforms including Skype, Zoom, Whatsapp, Google Meet and Messenger.
We will help you with advertising and promotion. If you wish to teach full-time, we can connect you with some of our corporate clients.
